When you vote for president you are deciding whether or not you trust that person’s judgment. Yet, there exists a whole block of voters in America who are willing to accept the judgment of an adjudicated rapist over that of a proven statesman. “On June 21, 2019, E. Jean Carroll published an article in New York magazine which stated that Donald Trump had sexually assaulted her in late 1995 or early 1996 in the Bergdorf Goodman department store in New York City. . . .“Carroll said that on her way out of the store she ran into Trump and he asked for help buying a gift for a woman. After she suggested a handbag or a hat, the two reputedly moved on to the lingerie section and joked about the other trying some on. Carroll said they ended up in a dressing room together, the door of which was shut, and Trump forcefully kissed her, pulled down her tights and raped her before she was able to escape. She stated that the alleged incident lasted less than three minutes, during which time there was no sales attendant present in the department.”—Wikipedia. While president Trump tried to have his case defended by the DOJ instead of a private law firm. The request was denied.
“On April 21, 2023, the Second Circuit Appeals Court said it should not be responsible for deciding the question of whether Trump had acted within the scope of his role as president when he made public comments about Carroll, and it remanded the issue to the U.S. District Court for Judge Kaplan to decide. In July, the DOJ recanted its position that Trump was acting in his official capacity.“–Wikipedia. In October of 12022 Trump posted on his social media site Truth Social claiming that Ms. Carroll’s claims were a complete con job, and that he didn’t even know who that woman was. Ms. Carroll then sued for defamation, and was awarded $5.5 million by a jury of his and her peers. But, Trump could not let it go. Instead he authored a barrage of tweets on his Truth Social website claiming that Ms. Carroll was a fraud, and a liar. She sued again, and in January of 2024 a jury of his and her peers awarded Ms. Carroll $83.3 million in compensatory damages.
During the trial Trump tweeted a total of 42 times defaming her again, and again, then near the end of the trial he stormed out of the courtroom. This obviously influenced the jurors who would be deciding the amount of the damages to be paid to Ms. Carroll. This is the man that Republicans want back in the White House. A man who only thinks of himself, and allows his penis to think for him. He has also been alleged to have raped at least 2 other women. This is a narcissistic sociopath who was more concerned with his economy during the pandemic than he was with the health and well being of the American people. This is a man too vain to wear a mask, or to suggest that people get vaccinated. This is a man who suggested that people drink bleach as a remedy for Covid. This is a man who stole confidential nuclear documents, and would not return them when asked. This is a man who was rooting for the Stock Market to crash in order to help him get reelected. This is a man who was running on border security, yet when the Senate got bipartisan support for a bill that many GOP senators considered the toughest border bill they could imagine told House Speaker Mike Johnson not to even bring it to the floor for a vote since he didn’t want to give President Biden yet another victory.
This bill was being fashioned by the senate with the cooperation of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro N. Mayorkas, while in the do nothing Republican controlled House Mayorkas was being impeached for failing to comply with House subpoenas by a bunch of subpoena dodging Republicans like Jim Jordan, and Scott Perry. Oh, the hypocrisy! Is this the man, who most Republicans still support, the person we want back in the White House making decisions that would effect the security, and financial well being of the nation?
